Andres Talijärv has been the Secretary General of the Ministry of the Environment since 21 June 2013.
Since February 2009, Andres Talijärv worked as a Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of the Environment in the field of nature conservation, fishery and forestry.
He has previously managed the Estonian Forest and Wood Industries Association and the Forest Department of the Ministry of the Environment before that. Andres Talijärv has also been the Director General of the Forestry Board as well as the deputy forester and chief forester of the Tallinn Green Belt Forestry Industry.
He has been active in several non-profit organisations related to nature conservation and forestry, for example, as a member of the Management Board of the Estonian Society of Foresters and belonging to the Estonian Forest Certification Council.
Talijärv is a graduate of the Estonian University of Life Sciences, having specialised in forestry.
