A competition will begin to find environment-friendly actions and enterprises
Algab konkurss Eesti keskkonnasõbralike tegude ja ettevõtete leidmiseks
The Minister of the Environment Keit Pentus-Rosimannus signed a directive, declaring a competition for 2014 Environmental Action and Environment-Friendly Enterprise of the Year. The call is open for private persons, institutions, enterprises and organisations that have lately especially contributed to or helped with their actions to make the living environment better with their actions.
The aim of the competition is to acknowledge those who have contributed the most during the last 12 months with their actions and doings for the environment, who have found a novel solution to some problem burdensome for the environment, and who have managed to relate economic development with environmental protection.
Everybody can have their say in determining the best Environmental Action of 2014, because all actions proposed will undergo public voting at the Delfi portal. In the category of environmental action, everyone can propose a candidate – the author of the action, cooperation partners or simply attentive Estonian people who have noted some important environmental action.
As for environment-friendly enterprises, the winners will be determined in three subcategories (environmental management, environment-friendly product and/or service as well as popularisation of environment-friendly technological process); an award for a general winner will be also set. All winners will be recognised and have the right to use the environmental label on their information materials and product advertisements.
The monetary value of the general winner is 35,000 euros, which shall be directed to increasing the level of enterprises’ environment-friendliness.
As a renewal, a special website www.keskkonnatunnustused.ee has been created for the environmental recognitions, which includes plenty of information on the winners of previous years as well as the conditions of this year’s contest. On the website, a participation form can be also filled in.
In the category of the Environmental Action, the deadline for submitting the forms is 4 December 2014, and in the category of Environment-Friendly Enterprise of the Year, 7 January 2015.
The conduction of the competition is supported by the European Social Fund.
