Less Car Wrecks End Up in Nature
|
|
The Government of the Republic approved the draft regulation on the requirements and procedure for collection, returning to the manufacturer, recovery or disposal of motor vehicles and parts thereof, the relevant target indicators and terms of implementation.
After the entry into force of the regulation, the last owner of a motor vehicle will be able to handle an end-of-life vehicle free of charge. As of 1 April 2005 an owner of an end-of-life vehicle will have to have the possibility to dispose of the vehicle free of charge within the county of his of her residence or within a surrounding area of 50 km. The costs of receipt, forwarding, recovery and disposal of the car wreck will be covered by the manufacturer.
The new regulation will create a situation in which the last owner of a motor vehicle will not leave the car wreck decompose in the nature but instead the vehicle will be returned to the manufacturer.
The manufacturer or an authorised representative of the manufacturer is required to accept all motor vehicles registered in the traffic register. The collection point or destruction shop will issue a destruction certificate to the person who delivered the vehicle, based on which the vehicle can be deregistered.
The regulation will also contribute to greater recycling or recovery of motor vehicles and parts thereof.
