Today, on 4 October at 15:00 the ISO 9001 quality certificate is awarded to the Aviation Meteorology Department of the Estonian Meteorological and Hydrological Institute to recognize the compliance of the work of this department with the international standard.
According to Jaan Saar, Director General of the Estonian Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (EMHI), receiving the certificate is a result of several years’ hard work and it is highly important for Estonian meteorology: “Aviation meteorology is one of our most challenging tasks and comprehensive fulfilment of quality requirements ensures that our clients get reliable information from us. Such recognition is especially important for the Institute.”
The EMHI started to make preparations for applying for the certificate in 2002. The Institute is planning to apply for a quality certificate also for other services provided (weather forecasts and weather reviews or hydrological and meteorological reviews).
Before the awarding of the quality certificate, the EMHI Aviation Meteorology Department was audited by Bureau Veritas Eesti OÜ. The certificate is issued to the Institute at Rävala Avenue 8 in the 2nd floor hall.
