Protection regime for the Natura areas located in state forests will be evident by the end of February

The Nature Conservation Department of the Ministry of the Environment and State Forest Management Centre (FMC) approved joint action schedule for forest protection management of future Natura areas in state forest.
According to the schedule, Ministry of the Environment gives the approved list of Natura areas to FMC by the end of February. Based on this, the Director General of FMC stops economic activity in forests needing a protected forests category until further protection rules will be laid down. Forests, located in protected forests` areas, will be managed accordingly to protection regime to be declared.
According to EU Birds and Nature Directive, two types of areas belong to Natura 2000
- bird protection areas for protecting birds and their habitat types, and nature protection areas for semi-natural habitat types and protection of rare and endangered animal and plant species.
