Sewer system renewed in Jõgeva

On Tuesday, November the 11th at 13.00 o’clock, Minister of Environment Villu Reiljan is opening renewed water- and sewerage systems of the city of Jõgeva.
8.4 kilometres of sewer pipes, 600 metres of drainage pipes and 3.5 kilometres of water pipes were laid down in Jõgeva. Consequently, additional 165 households will acquire access to canalization- and 110 to drinking water system.
According to Viktor Svjatõsev, mayor of Jõgeva, Jõgeva City Council has decided that joining in with common water- and sewer system will be free until the end of the next year. Many of the wells of local households have been polluted for some time already.
Total cost of the project, 10.5 million kroons was completely financed by Phare program.
Reconstruction of the pipes was part of a program to improve the water-management and infrastructure of Estonia’s small towns, which covers seventeen towns all over Estonia.
