The most environmentally friendly enterprise of Estonia will be announced today

Today at 15 o'clock in the atrium of the Ministry of Environment, Heiki Kranich, the Minister of Environment, will annouce the most environmentally friendly enterprise of Estonia. 

The winner of the TOP 10 contest FOR environmentally friendly enterprises will be one of the eight production enterprises participating:  AS Kunda Nordic Tsement, Optiroc AS, Eesti Energia AS, Elcoteq Tallinn AS, AS Repo Vabrikud, AS Vilma, AS Tallinna Küte or AS Kroonpress. 

The following branches of industry were represented at the contest: building materials industry, energy industry, printing, electronics and bakeries industries.  The participating companies are located in East and West Viru, Pärnu, Viljandi counties and in Tartu and Tallinn. 

The decision was based on analysis of application materials complemented with sample inspection and it was made by an evaluation committee which included representatives from the Ministry of Environment, unions of different branches of production, and other non-governmental organisations. 

The contest was arranged for the first time and aimed at promoting low resource production, reduction of pollution, application of environmental management in enterprises, and cooperation of enterprises with the public.
