Environmental Council focuses on reducing climate change

Tomorrow, 20 February, Minister for the Environment Rein Randver will be attending the first session of the year of the European Union's Environmental Council in Brussels, at which the main topic of discussion will be problems associated with climate change. It is the wish of current EU president Germany that the union’s leading role in climate change on the world stage be reinforced.
The Environmental Council will also be looking to make a decision regarding whether to allow genetically modified carnations to be grown and marketed in EU member states.
The council also wishes to abolish a ban imposed by Hungary on genetically modified corn. Finally, the council will also be discussing matters associated with the economic use of pesticides and the soil protection strategy and directive.
