Seminar-camps and a study tours

The first study tour to Denmark took place in June of 2004, followed by another one in July of 2005. The participants were nature conservation staff and amphibian specialists from Estonia and Finland. They visited Danish project areas, conducted fieldwork and enquired on how nature conservation activities are organised in Denmark. Denmark is known for having restored thousands of amphibian breeding ponds in the past decades. As a result, valuable lessons can be learned on how to restore breeding ponds but also on how to care for nature in such way that minimum restoration would be required, which implies learning from the mistakes of others.

In June of 2005, an international seminar was organised in Estonia with 53 participants from 9 countries. In addition to Estonian, Danish and Finnish participants, people came from Belarus, the Ukraine, the Netherlands, England, Germany and France. Over a course of three days, the participants discussed the great crested newt and other amphibians living in different countries, examined the various problems, shared experiences, conducted fieldwork and made trips to various project areas.
