Mr Reiljan Formed a Committee for Further Planning of Pollution Management Work on the North-West Coast

The Minister of the Environment Mr Villu Reiljan formed a committee, the objective of which is to advise on further planning of pollution management work on the north-west coast.

The committee will have to analyse the need to remove the pollution and further organise rescue work from the perspective of environmental protection. By Wednesday, 8 February, the committee has to present proposals to the Minister with regard to what should be done next to reduce environmental hazards. Within the next two weeks, the committee will have to advise the Minister on how to organise monitoring after completing rescue and cleaning work and which special tasks should be given as a result of the pollution in the area of government of the Ministry of the Environment.

Mr Jaanus Tuusti, Director General of the National Nature Conservation Centre, was appointed as chairman of the eight-member committee. The other members of the committee are: Mr Olav Etverk, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of the Environment, Mr Tõnis Pajo from the Estonian Rescue Board, Mr Silver Vahtra from the Estonian Border Guard Administration, Ms Tiia Kaar from the Environmental Inspectorate, Mr Koit Latik from the Environmental Deparment of the Lääne County, Ms Kaja Lotman from the National Nature Conservation Centre and Mr Andres Järve from the Environmental Department of the Harju County.
