Pavlovsk: Environmental Inspectorate launches administrative proceedings 27.10.2006 The Environmental Inspectorate has launched administrative proceedings to issue a precept to the fishing vessel Pavlovsk to leave Estonia at the earliest opportunity. The Pavlovsk, which flies the Georgian flag, has been included on the B-list of ships found to be involved in illegal, undeclared and unregulated fishing by the North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC).

Black-listed fishing vessel refused permission to call at Estonian ports 25.10.2006 Information has reached the Ministry of the Environment that the Pavlovsk, a fishing vessel flying the Georgian flag that has been placed on a list of illegal, undeclared and unregulated fishing vessels by the North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission(NEAFC), has sailed into the Russian-Baltic port.

EU Environmental Council given overview of Probo Koala case 24.10.2006 23 October, Minister for the Environment Rein Randver presented a session of the European Union’s Environmental Council with an overview of the status of the criminal investigation launched by the Public Prosecutor’s Office into the tanker Probo Koala and the steps that are now to be taken.

The waste of the Probo Koala will be utilised in Vaivara 13.10.2006  Activities on how to render the environmentally hazardous waste originating from the Probo Koala harmless in Estonia were planned at the meeting held in the Ministry of the Environment on 12 October.

Today, 28 September, the European Commission’s representative for the environment, Stavros Dimas, visited the Port of Paldiski with Estonian Minister of the Environment Villu Reiljan and was informed of the details of the interception of the ship Probo Koala.

The Team Investigating the Pollution in North-West Estonia Decided to Send its Representatives on Board the Suspected Vessel 23.02.2006
Today, on 9 February, the meeting of the investigation team working on the causes of the environmental pollution in North-West Estonia decided that several members of the investigation team and experts of the corresponding field as the representatives of Estonia will shortly be sent on board the tanker vessel Flawless that is under suspicion as a possible polluter, for taking comparative samples.

The Rehabilitation Centre for Birds Started to Work in Keila 23.02.2006
The rehabilitation centre for birds opened its doors this afternoon in Keila. Today, 108 birds were brought to the centre from Tallinn and 22 birds from Nõva and Robijärve will arrive this evening. Altogether 230 living birds have been collected.

Removal of the Oil Pollution and Determination of the Causes Continue 23.02.2006

Today, the rescue workers of Harjumaa and their helpers continued to remove the oil pollution discovered on the coast of Harjumaa on Saturday. Approximately 1.5 cubic metres of oil and 200 dead birds, mostly long-tailed ducks and goldeneyes, were collected during the day.
