More environmentally friendly tyres ad fuel available for consumers
|
|
Starting
from November 1, tyre sellers will provide information to customers on
eco-friendliness of the tyres and as from January 1 of the new year, fuel
sellers have an obligation to share information on the content of bio fuel or
the suitable use of special petrol mixes upon request.
”The more
accurate information the consumers have before purchasing, the easier it is to
make a choice that is both environmentally friendly and economically
reasonable,” Minister of the Environment Keit Pentus-Rosimannus explained.
Information
on the bio fuel content of motor fuel and the correct use of different petrol
mixes can be obtained from filling stations.
Fuel monitoring database provides information on the results of the
quality tests of motor fuel sold in different filling stations, enabling a
consumer to make an environmentally conscious choice in buying fuel.
Starting from November 1 this year, tyre
producers and suppliers will have an obligation to use an energy-performance
label on their products. It includes information on the fuel economy, rolling
noise and adhesion utilisation of tyres on a wet road. Tyres produced in an
eco-friendly manner are more fuel efficient and produce less noise and
pollution, which is important in providing a good living environment. The aim
of this obligation is to make road transportation cheaper, safer and more
economically friendly.
