Yesterday and today, representatives of the Hungary’s Ministry of National Development visited Estonia to acquaint themselves with the electric car project implemented as a result of emissions trading.

The Hungary’s Ministry of National Development has observed Estonia’s successful trading in emissions and development of the projects stemming from these transactions. They are the most interested in the electro mobility project. ”Since we are the first ones who have developed the electric car project so widely, we are naturally under a lot of attention by other countries. As I already stressed to our Hungarian colleagues, this project does not only include purchasing of cars. At the end of this year, an Estonian-wide fast charging network will be completed, making electric cars usable for more than just local drives,” the Minister of the Environment Keit Pentus-Rosimannus commented on providing the Hungarian colleagues a short overview of the project’s positive impact on the environment. ”The survey conducted among citizens also indicated that people in Tallinn are mostly concerned about car noise and low air quality, which is not an issue with electric cars,” Pentus-Rosimannus added.

The representatives of the Hungary’s Ministry of National Development asserted that they would like to develop different environmentally friendly projects related to sales of emission quotas, and Estonia is one of their role models. The Climate Department of the Ministry of the Environment gave the Hungarians an overview of the structure of the green investment plan in Estonia. Yesterday, they had a meeting regarding this project with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, Ministry of Social Affairs and representatives of Kredex. Installer of the fast chargers ABB AS also gave the Hungarians a demo drive and introduced the existing charging possibilities in Tallinn.
