Ida-Eesti river basin district (Eastern part of Estonia) is a transboundary district composed of basin areas of the Lake Peipsi and River Narva. More than half of the basin area is located in the territory of Russian Federation. Lääne-Eesti river basin district (Western part of Estonia) is composed of basin areas of main rivers in the western part of Estonia. The territory includes also the coastal waters islands in the western part of Estonia. Koiva river basin district is composed of transboundary Koiva river basin shared with the Latvia. In Latvian language the name of the river is Gauja.
Published river basin management plans
Preparation and revision of river basin management plans The existing and published river basin management plans have been established for the period of 2009-2010. River basin management plans are reviewed and updated after every six years. Revised river basin management plans will be established for the period of 2015-2021.On January 6th, 2012 the minister of environment initiated a revision process of existing river basin management plans. The ministerial decree can be found here (in Estonian): The general work plan and timetable for revision of river basin management plans is available here: Public consultation of the workplan and timetable for river basin management plans (2015-2021) takes place from May 1st 2012 until October 31st 2012. Consultation documents are available at the homepage of the Ministry of the Environment (www.envir.ee/vmk/2015-2021/ajagraafik) and on paper in county governments (http://www.envir.ee/1184534). In during the six months consultation period the Ministry of the Environment will held four consultation meetings of which futher announcments will be made.
