Participants from Estonia taking part in the Week for Waste Reduction with their own series of events include the Environmental Board, non-profit association WinterAcademy, non-profit association New Use Centre, the city of Narva, the Information Center for Sustainable Renovation, Eesti Energia, the Ministry of the Environment and the Estonian Environment Information Centre. The week is being coordinated by the Ministry of the Environment. Recognition will be awarded to the best enterprises by an international jury. The Environmental Board is organising the competition “Make Yourself an Environmentally Friendly Shopping Bag” for schools and nursery schools and the competition “Less Waste” for enterprises-agencies. The non-profit association WinterAcademy is collecting donated clothing no longer being worn by students, in the framework of the event “Student, Where Did You Get Those pants?” in collection boxes. On-site, students are able to give new homes to excess clothing; while at the same time workshops are taking place, in which the use of simple tools to give new appearances to clothing is being taught. At the end of the event, any clothing that has not found a home will be turned into rag carpets. Eesti Energia is sharing information all week long, in its companies across Estonia, about how to reduce the generation of paper waste at home and in the office. In addition, taking place is the national campaign “Order an e-invoice, give a gift to Estonia's environment". On 26 November, the city of Narva is organising the used clothing collection event “Give Clothes a New Lease on Life” for residents. Collected clothing will be donated to the Humana sorting centre. On 22 November, at Väike-Patarei 5, and on 24 November at Telliskivi 60B, the Information Center for Sustainable Renovation is organizing used construction material renovation workshops. The workshops are being supported within the framework of the ProNatMat project. Additional information is available on the website www.renoveeri.net. Over the course of the entire week, the Ministry of the Environment and the Estonian Environment Information Centre are organising inside information for employees about how to prevent and reduce the generation of waste in the office and in everyday life. European countries that are also participating in the pan-European Week for Waste Reduction are, for example, Andorra, France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Finland, Sweden, Spain, Great Britain, and Belgium, various regions, as well as public and private sector agencies/organisations and non-profit associations.
