Government releases Annika Uudelepp from position as ministry’s Secretary-General

Today, 12 June 2008, on the proposal of the Minister of the Environment, the government released Ministry of the Environment Secretary-General Annika Uudelepp from service at her own request as of 21 June 2008.

Uudelepp submitted her letter of resignation to the government on 6 June 2008. She must complete her work and hand in her papers at the Ministry of the Environment by 20 June at the latest.

Minister of the Environment Jaanus Tamkivi proposed to the government that current Deputy Minister Rita Annus be appointed new Secretary-General.

Annus was appointed to the position of Deputy Minister by the government on 14 June 2007. She previously worked in the ministry’s legal office as a lawyer, managed both the legal office and department (1996-2003) and has been both a managerial adviser and Acting Deputy Director-General at the Land Board. She graduated in law from the University of Tartu in 2001 and in environmental science and policy from the University of Central Europe in 2001.

The government will debate the appointment of the new Secretary-General in the near future.
