Pavlovsk may leave port of Baltic Ship Repair Factory

The members of the North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC) have granted their consent for the deletion of the fishing vessel Pavlovsk from its list of ships involved in illegal, undeclared and unregulated fishing, permitting the vessel to leave the Estonian port it is currently docked in.
“As far as the Ministry of the Environment is concerned there are no further obstacles to the ship going on its way,” said Minister of the Environment Jaanus Tamkivi. “We have received confirmation from the secretariat of the NEAFC that the Pavlovsk has been removed from its black list of ships involved in illegal fishing.” The minister added that international cooperation in the field has proven highly effective, as the vessels which are flouting fishing regulations are being penalised accordingly.
In order to prevent the marketing of fish caught illegally, the NEAFC does not allow its member states or the European Union to permit such vessels to enter their ports. Neither does the agreement between NEAFC member states or European Union regulations allow them to supply such ships with fuel and other provisions.
Now that the Pavlovsk has been removed this ‘black list’ it is once again eligible to receive such services and finally leave the port of the Baltic Ship Repair Factory.
The Pavlovsk arrived at the factory almost one and a half years ago with a technical fault and has been there ever since.
